Meeting 100 exemplary individuals from the "Kind Deeds" program on the morning of june 10, General Secretary and President To Lam noted that simple, unassuming acts rich in compassion are still present in daily life. These range from sharing, caring for, and helping those in difficulty to brave actions that save lives.
"These things show us that, even amidst the many pressures and challenges of life, compassion is still present around us; in life, kindness has a greater power to move and spread further," he stated.
Recalling President Ho Chi Minh's Call for Patriotic Emulation 78 years ago, the General Secretary and President affirmed that kind deeds today are a vivid expression of patriotic emulation. Patriotism is evident not only in significant historical moments but also in every responsible action, every humane gesture, and every beneficial act for the community and the nation.
He highly praised the 100 honored examples. Though they come from various regions, ages, professions, and circumstances, they share a common trait: they are not indifferent to the difficulties of others and are ready to contribute when the community needs them.
"Some deeds are momentous, saving human lives at the last minute. Some are quiet, spanning many years. Some are not widely known but have warmed a destiny, opened a path, and preserved a belief," the General Secretary and President said.

He stated that Vietnam is entering a new development phase with the goal of building a prosperous, civilized, wealthy, and happy nation. To achieve this goal, in addition to resources, technology, institutions, infrastructure, high-quality human resources, and innovation, the country also needs a foundation of culture, ethics, people, and social trust.
"A society lacking trust incurs high development costs. When what is right is protected, what is good is encouraged, the vulnerable are not left behind, and those who dare to do good do not feel alone, then social trust is strengthened. And trust is a crucial resource for national development," he emphasized.
According to the General Secretary and President, kindness is not merely a personal moral quality but also social capital, cultural strength, and a fundamental part of a civilized nation. A kind person not only knows how to love and help others but also lives responsibly, respects the law, justice, and human dignity; they maintain integrity through difficulties, challenges, and temptations. "We strive for a lifetime of kindness, for kind families, kind individuals, and a kind society," he stressed.
The head of the Party and State believes that a kind official must be dedicated to the people, impartial, diligent, and not exploit power for personal gain. A kind entrepreneur is one who legitimately builds wealth, conducts business with integrity, and takes social responsibility. A kind teacher not only imparts knowledge but also cultivates character. A kind doctor must combine professional expertise with medical ethics and compassion.
Kindness "is not about being easygoing, complacent, or avoiding struggle." Kindness "is benevolent but principled; tolerant but not condoning; loving towards people but resolute in protecting justice, fairness, and social order."
To multiply good people and good deeds in the new phase, the General Secretary and President proposed renovating the patriotic emulation movement to be more practical, linked to the task of national development and serving the people. Concurrently, it is essential to build a favorable social environment for kindness to be protected and spread.
He also highlighted the role of journalism, media, education, literature, arts, and digital platforms in spreading positive values. In cyberspace, every citizen, especially the younger generation, needs to become a responsible digital citizen, knowing how to spread good things, not disseminate fake news, not offend others, and not be indifferent to evil.
