Another body found in Vinh Long arson investigation

Vinh Long authorities have discovered the body of a 42-year-old woman in a stationery shop in Binh Dai commune, two days after it was set ablaze. This discovery follows the earlier finding of the shop owner's 82-year-old father.

At noon on 10/6, search teams located the body of the 42-year-old female victim, a resident of Thanh Tri commune, in the staircase area of the shop. Authorities identified the victim as a teacher who was present at the shop with several others on the morning of 8/6. When the fire broke out, many people fled, but the teacher was trapped inside.

The incident began two mornings ago when the photocopy and stationery shop in Binh Dai commune caught fire. After controlling the blaze, authorities found the body of Tran Ngoc Ly, 82, the father of the shop owner.

Initial investigations by Vinh Long Provincial Police suggested that another person might have been trapped inside. However, search efforts faced difficulties as part of the shop's first floor had collapsed, and the side walls were damaged, posing a risk of further collapse.

In connection with the case, Vinh Long Provincial Police have temporarily detained Tran Ngoc Lynh, 53, the shop owner's elder brother and Ly's son, to investigate the alleged arson. Lynh initially confessed that he set fire to his younger brother's shop on the morning of 8/6 due to a family property dispute.

Vinh Long Provincial Police are currently investigating the case.
