From 1/6, unleaded gasoline, in accordance with current national technical standards, has been required to be blended into E10 gasoline for use in gasoline engines across the country.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the shift to bio-fuel supports green energy development goals and reduces reliance on fossil fuels. It also promotes domestic bio-fuel consumption, creating a stable market for agriculture and boosting energy self-reliance.
The Ministry stated that bio-fuel quality checks have been conducted continuously since 2018, when E5 gasoline was first distributed. These checks continue with E10 to ensure the fuel meets technical standards.
Businesses that violate E10 gasoline quality regulations may face administrative penalties, operational suspension, or other enforcement measures, depending on the severity of the infraction.
Quality control is implemented across the entire supply chain, encompassing production, blending, transportation, distribution, circulation, and the retail network. Leaders of the Ministry of Industry and Trade previously confirmed that products reaching consumers undergo strict inspection and supervision at every preceding stage.
In early June, the Ministry of Industry and Trade launched the "Quanh toi" (Around Me) mobile application to assist the public during the nationwide E10 gasoline rollout. The app allows users to locate gas stations, report issues at pumps, and track their personal vehicle's fuel history.
Warning needed on 'vacation contracts'
Also during the session, Nguyen Thanh Hai, a delegate and Chair of the Committee for Science, Technology, and Environment, reported that many voters expressed concern following media reports highlighting instances of seniors losing significant amounts of money through "vacation contracts". According to her, businesses often organize gift-giving seminars, create a sense of urgency, or employ various marketing tactics to persuade customers to sign contracts.
Hai noted cases where buyers attempting to terminate contracts were subsequently enticed by other entities with promises of buybacks, leading them to spend more money or even mortgage assets. The delegate urged authorities to issue broad warnings about this scheme and to investigate, verify, and strictly penalize any violations to protect citizens, especially seniors.
