Hanoi City Police announced that from 14/1, the AI camera system's capabilities were expanded to record and process cases of urban order and environmental hygiene violations.
Urban order violations include: encroaching on roadways and sidewalks; illegal vending; installing unauthorized awnings or advertising signs; and illegal stopping, parking, or leaving vehicles on roads and sidewalks.
Environmental hygiene violations encompass: illegal waste collection or disposal; littering cigarette butts; improper personal hygiene in public areas; illegal discharge of wastewater in residential, commercial, service areas, or public spaces; and discarding waste on sidewalks, roadways, or into drainage systems.
Among these, the AI cameras strictly monitor specific behaviors such as: encroaching on roadways, illegal stopping and parking, waste disposal, littering cigarette butts, and improper personal hygiene in public areas.
After two days of implementation, the AI camera system directly detected five cases, resulting in total fines of 12,5 million dong. Additionally, based on sufficient photo and information reports from agencies, organizations, and individuals regarding urban order and environmental hygiene violations, 43 more public order violations were "cold-fined," totaling over 46 million dong.

Violation image data recorded by the AI cameras will be processed by the Command Center and then forwarded to ward and commune police for verification and processing.
The images captured by the camera system serve as objective evidence, helping to reduce disputes and reactions from offenders towards law enforcement. This fosters public consensus and minimizes dissenting opinions.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thanh Lam, Head of the Department of Administrative Management Police for Social Order, Hanoi City Police, stated that while urban order and aesthetics have seen positive changes, they have not met expectations. Many areas still experience repeat violations when law enforcement is absent.
This reality underscores the need for more effective, synchronized, and transparent solutions for handling violations.
From 13/12/2025, Hanoi City Police officially deployed the AI camera system, comprising approximately 1,837 cameras strategically installed on 25 routes and 195 key intersections.
"Over the past month, traffic conditions have shown clear improvements and effectiveness, with reduced traffic congestion. The effectiveness of the AI camera system is evident, and its expansion to address urban civility will certainly yield similar results," Lieutenant Colonel Lam shared.
In addition to detecting violations, AI cameras also enable law enforcement to recognize and evaluate instances of legal compliance. This allows for timely commendation and the promotion of good deeds and positive images within the community.
