Seven individuals, including local residents and firefighters, have been commended by the Hanoi People's Committee for their bravery in rescuing people from a fire on Linh Nam street, Hoang Mai ward.

On 26/3, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Vu Dai Thang signed a decision to present outstanding commendations to 7 individuals. These individuals demonstrated courage and prompt action, saving residents during a fire at alley 218 Linh Nam, Hoang Mai district.

Among the 7 recognized, 5 are citizens living and working in Hoang Mai ward, while two are officers from the Fire Prevention and Fighting and Rescue Police, under the Hanoi Police.

The honored citizens include Nguyen Le Tu (from Hung Yen), Nguyen Van Cuong (from Nghe An), Nguyen Tien Long (from Hanoi), Nguyen Van Dap, and Nguyen Van Nghia (both from Ninh Binh). All are either permanent or temporary residents of group 15, Linh Nam, Hoang Mai ward.

The fire broke out around 17h50 on 24/3, originating from the 2nd floor of a 6-story house with one attic, located in alley 218 Linh Nam, Hoang Mai ward. 7 people became trapped inside as the staircase was engulfed in flames and smoke.

Nguyen Tien Long, the son-in-law of the homeowner, and Nguyen Van Dung were the first to climb onto the roof. They took turns breaking through the corrugated iron roof to evacuate the trapped individuals. Subsequently, Nguyen Le Tu, Nguyen Van Dap, Nguyen Van Cuong, and Nguyen Van Nghia arrived to provide support.

Simultaneously, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Tuan Anh and Captain Nguyen Van Huy donned oxygen tanks and moved inside, directly approaching the victims trapped on the 6th floor of the house.
