On 3/6, heat continued across the Northern region and from Hue City to eastern Quang Ngai, though its intensity was lower compared to the late May period.
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting (NCHMF), the highest temperatures in the Northern region today generally ranged from 35-37 degrees C, with some areas exceeding 38 degrees. The hottest spots included Yen Chau (Son La) at 39,3 degrees C, Bac Me (Tuyen Quang) at 38,2 degrees, and Mai Chau (Phu Tho) and Nho Quan (Ninh Binh) both at 38 degrees C.
In Hanoi, three stations – Lang, Hoai Duc, and Ba Vi – recorded temperatures above 37 degrees, while Ha Dong and Son Tay stations were at 36 degrees C.
The area from Thanh Hoa to Quang Tri remained the country's heat epicenter. Many locations registered temperatures from 37 to nearly 40 degrees C, such as Quy Hop (Nghe An) at 39,8 degrees C, Huong Son (Ha Tinh) at 39,3 degrees, Con Cuong (Nghe An) at 39,2 degrees, and Hoi Xuan (Thanh Hoa) and Dong Ha (Quang Tri) both at 39 degrees.
Compared to the exceptionally intense heatwave from 22/5 to 27/5, current temperatures have decreased by one to three degrees C across most of the Northern region. During the late May heatwave, many northern localities experienced temperatures of 39-41 degrees C, with numerous meteorological stations breaking or equaling May temperature records.
The NCHMF stated that over the next 24-48 hours, the midland and delta areas of the Northern region will continue to experience heat, with some areas facing intense heat. Highest temperatures are expected to generally range from 35-36 degrees C, with some places exceeding 37 degrees. From 8/6, the heat in the North will gradually subside.
Despite the heat, afternoon thunderstorms often occur, causing temperatures to drop rapidly and preventing overly stifling nights. This afternoon, from 15h to 17h, heavy rain fell in many areas of Son La, Phu Tho, and Quang Ngai. Rainfall amounts included Huong Nhuong (Phu Tho) at 64 mm, Huong Tra (Quang Ngai) at 52 mm, Bao La (Phu Tho) at 43 mm, Son Bua (Quang Ngai) at 42 mm, and Phieng Luong (Son La) at 32 mm.

Meanwhile, the Central region continues to be affected by a hot western low-pressure area combined with foehn winds, indicating that the heatwave is likely to persist for several more days. Specifically, for the next two days, provinces from Thanh Hoa to Quang Tri will maintain intense heat, with temperatures generally ranging from 37-39 degrees C, and some areas exceeding 39 degrees. The area from Hue City to eastern Quang Ngai will see highs of 36-38 degrees C, with some places surpassing 38 degrees C.
Due to the heatwave combined with low humidity, the risk of fires in residential areas and forest fires remains high. Individuals working outdoors for extended periods face potential dehydration, exhaustion, or heatstroke.
