On the evening of 16/11, a leader from the Nha Trang Railway Transport Branch reported that heavy rain starting at 15:30 had flooded a section of railway between Nga Ba and Cam Thinh Dong stations in Nam Cam Ranh commune. The flooded area extended over 100 meters and was about 0,25 meters deep. Upstream water also carried soil and rocks, filling the rail grooves, further obstructing the tracks.
The incident forced trains SE6 and SE22, traveling from Sai Gon station, to stop at Cam Thinh Dong and Ka Rom stations. Train SE21, from Da Nang station, was held at Nha Trang station, and train STN1, departing from Nha Trang station, stopped at Cay Cay station, awaiting the water to recede.
"Approximately 800 passengers are waiting on the trains. The water is expected to recede in about one hour, allowing trains to resume their journey," the leader from the Nha Trang Railway Transport Branch stated, adding that passengers were provided with food and drinks while waiting for the tracks to clear.
According to the Khanh Hoa Hydro-Meteorological Center, from 16/11 to 18/11, the province was expected to experience moderate to heavy rain, with total rainfall ranging from 80-150 mm. Mountainous areas could see 100-200 mm, with some locations exceeding 250 mm. The meteorological agency also warned of a risk of localized heavy rainfall, potentially exceeding 80 mm within three hours.
