Ho Chi Minh City's Department of Construction announced that motorbikes are now permitted to travel two-way on Vo Van Tan street, specifically the section from Cong Truong Quoc Te near Ho Con Rua to Cach Mang Thang Tam. This adjustment, effective from 4/10, aims to manage traffic flow during ongoing metro construction. Oto traffic on this segment will continue to operate one-way.
With these changes, stopping and parking are strictly prohibited for all vehicles on the affected road section daily from 6h to 9h and 16h to 19h. Outside these specified peak hours, parking remains prohibited.
Vo Van Tan street serves as a crucial traffic artery in downtown Ho Chi Minh City, stretching over 3 km from Ho Con Rua to Cao Thang street and featuring three lanes. Prior to this adjustment, the route operated one-way from Ho Con Rua to Cach Mang Thang Tam, while the section from Cach Mang Thang Tam to Cao Thang street already allowed two-way traffic.

The decision to implement two-way motorbike traffic on the Ho Con Rua - Cach Mang Thang Tam section is a strategic move to alleviate traffic congestion on surrounding main roads, including Dien Bien Phu, Cach Mang Thang Tam, and Nguyen Thi Minh Khai. This measure is essential to accommodate the simultaneous construction efforts for the Ben Thanh - Tham Luong metro line.
Further traffic adjustments are scheduled to take effect from 10/10 on other key routes. Cach Mang Thang Tam street, for instance, will become one-way for approximately 350 m from Nguyen Du to Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, flowing in the direction of Nguyen Du - Nguyen Thi Minh Khai. Similarly, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai street will transition to one-way traffic for about 1,5 km, operating in the direction of Cao Thang - Huyen Tran Cong Chua.
Looking ahead, the Ben Thanh station area, located in what was formerly District 1, is slated for partial barricading in late October to facilitate metro construction. Pham Hong Thai street, adjacent to 23/9 Park, will experience a temporary closure from before the Le Thanh Ton intersection to Truong Dinh. To reroute traffic effectively, sections of Ly Tu Trong, Truong Dinh, and Nam Ky Khoi Nghia streets near this vicinity are expected to convert to two-way operation.
