House fire in Hanoi at dawn claims one life

A fire erupted at a two-story house in Quoc Oai commune at dawn on 15/5, was brought under control within about 20 minutes, but one person trapped inside died.

Around 1:40 a.m., flames emerged from the mezzanine of a house, approximately 120 m2, located in Hamlet 10, Phuong Cach 3 village, Quoc Oai commune. Smoke and fire quickly engulfed the entire structure.

Upon receiving the emergency call, the Hanoi City Police Fire and Rescue Department dispatched three fire trucks and 18 officers to the location. When responders arrived, the blaze had spread widely, generating great heat.

Through reconnaissance, police confirmed that individuals were trapped inside. Officers, equipped with oxygen tanks and specialized gear, were immediately deployed to search for victims. Multiple firefighting teams simultaneously worked around the house to prevent the fire from extending to nearby residential areas.

By approximately 2 a.m., the fire was extinguished, leaving much of the property inside destroyed. During the search and rescue operation, authorities discovered one person deceased.

The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are currently under investigation by authorities.

This incident follows another fire on 11/5, which occurred at noon at the Volume Club bar in Tu Liem ward, Hanoi, resulting in the death of a male employee. Smoke and flames smoldered for several hours after that blaze.
