Increased night flight hours at six airports for Tet

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has adjusted night flight operations at six airports: Tho Xuan, Dong Hoi, Chu Lai, Pleiku, Tuy Hoa, and Phu Cat.

From 1/2 to 1/3, airports must extend night operating hours to accommodate travelers during the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year and the 2026 spring festival. Specifically, Tho Xuan airport will adjust its operational schedule from 6h to 23h daily, extending it to run from 6h on the previous day until 2h40 the following day.

Dong Hoi airport, which currently operates from 6h to 21h, will extend its hours to run from 6h on the previous day until 4h30 the next day. Chu Lai airport's operations, currently from 6h to 21h, will be adjusted to 6h to 24h on the same day.

Phu Cat airport's operating hours, from 6h to 21h, will be adjusted to run from 6h on the previous day until 1h50 the following day. Pleiku and Tuy Hoa airports, currently operating from 6h to 21h, will change their schedules to 6h to 24h on the same day.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has instructed the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) and the Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM) to allocate resources and coordinate with airlines and airport units to implement the night flight plan at the six airports.

To accommodate Tet holiday travelers, Vietnam Airlines recently added nearly 300 domestic flights, offering approximately 60,000 additional seats, from 9/2 to 3/3. This period spans from the 22nd day of the twelfth lunar month to the 15th day of the first lunar month. The enhanced flight schedule primarily includes routes from TP HCM to Ha Noi, Vinh, Hai Phong, Thanh Hoa, and Da Nang.

Furthermore, the airline introduced four new routes from Hai Phong to Nha Trang, Can Tho, Buon Ma Thuot, and Phu Quoc, aiming to alleviate pressure on primary flight corridors.

Vietjet also made available an additional approximately 390,000 seats, equating to nearly 1,800 supplementary flights during the Tet peak season.

To mitigate airport congestion, airlines recommend that passengers prioritize online check-in or utilize biometric technology to proceed directly to the security screening area if they are traveling without checked baggage.
