The Ministry of National Defense Office recently held a voter consultation conference for General Phan Van Giang, the Minister of National Defense, regarding his candidacy for the 16th National Assembly.
Speakers at the conference unanimously affirmed General Phan Van Giang's clear background, unwavering political ideology, and absolute loyalty to the Party, the nation, and its people. They highlighted his ethical qualities, simple lifestyle, and democratic, frank, and honest work approach.
Voters also recognized the Minister of National Defense's theoretical knowledge and extensive practical experience in military management, command, and operation. They noted his growth through combat, study, and work, leading to many important roles. In these positions, he consistently performed well, making significant contributions to army development, strengthening national defense and security, and protecting the homeland.

During his term as a delegate to the 15th National Assembly, General Phan Van Giang strictly adhered to the National Assembly's work programs, plans, and operational regulations. He actively participated in discussions and contributed to the development of national policies and strategies.
Speaking at the conference, General Phan Van Giang expressed gratitude for the voters' trust. He affirmed his commitment to upholding responsibility, listening to, and thoroughly compiling voters' opinions, recommendations, and aspirations to convey them to the relevant authorities.
General Phan Van Giang, 65, hails from Hong Quang ward, Ninh Binh province. A Doctor of Military Science, he has held numerous significant positions within the military, including Commander of Military Corps one, Deputy Chief of General Staff, and Deputy Minister of National Defense and Chief of General Staff. The National Assembly approved his appointment as Minister of National Defense in 4/2021. In 10/2023, he garnered the highest number of confidence votes among government members during the National Assembly's confidence assessment.
Previously, voters also nominated two other generals for the 16th National Assembly: General Nguyen Trong Nghia, Head of the General Political Department, and General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Chief of General Staff and Deputy Minister of National Defense.
