Tran Phong was elected Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Secretary for the 2025-2030 term by the Provincial Party Executive Committee on 27/3, securing a unanimous vote of 100%.
The Provincial Party Organization Committee will coordinate with relevant agencies to finalize the procedures and submit the election results to the Politburo and the Secretariat for approval, as stipulated.

Phong's appointment follows Nghiem Xuan Thanh's election as a member of the 14th Central Inspection Commission for the 2026-2031 term by the Central Executive Committee on 25/3.
Originally from Quang Phuong commune, in the former Quang Trach district of Quang Binh province, Phong holds a Master's degree in Economics. He has served in various capacities within Quang Binh, including vice chairman of Bo Trach District People's Committee, deputy head of the Provincial Party Inspection Committee, director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, vice chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and secretary of Dong Hoi City Party Committee.
In 12/2024, he became chairman of Quang Binh Provincial People's Committee. By 7/2025, he assumed the role of chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee following a reorganization. In 10/2025, Phong was elected chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee for the 2021-2026 term.
Following its merger with Ninh Thuan, Khanh Hoa province now spans over 8,555 km2 with a population exceeding 2,24 million people. It comprises 65 commune-level administrative units: 48 communes, 16 wards, and one special administrative zone.
