Lieutenant General Nguyen Quang Ngoc appointed deputy minister of national defense

Lieutenant General Nguyen Quang Ngoc, deputy chief of the general staff of the Vietnam people's army, has been appointed deputy minister of national defense by the prime minister.

Lieutenant General Nguyen Quang Ngoc, 57, is from Nam Dinh (now Ninh Binh). He holds a bachelor's degree in military science, specializing in command and staff work, and combined arms warfare. He is a member of the 13th central committee of the communist party of Vietnam and a member of the central military commission.

The current minister of national defense is General Phan Van Giang. The deputy ministers are: General Nguyen Tan Cuong (chief of the general staff), Lieutenant General Vo Minh Luong, Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien, Lieutenant General Le Huy Vinh, Lieutenant General Vu Hai San, Lieutenant General Pham Hoai Nam, Lieutenant General Nguyen Quang Ngoc, Lieutenant General Nguyen Hong Thai, Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang, and Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Hien.
