The cemetery in alley 19, Quang Trung street, Thong Tay Hoi ward, was flooded nearly half a meter deep, with water surrounding the graves. From the heavy rain at 15h yesterday until this morning, many residential areas in the former Go Vap district had not yet drained completely.
Inside a house in alley 19, Quang Trung street, Mr. Van Minh placed his washing machine on a table to protect it from the water. He said the rain lasted all night, forcing his family to sleep on the sofa.
On the porch, where the lowest point was nearly 40 cm deep, Mr. Minh arranged wooden planks to create a temporary walkway.

Next door, Mr. Tu Dinh Khoi lifted his sofa set off the ground to create a living space. According to him, this area has frequently experienced deep flooding for many years, and each time the water overflows, it takes a long time to recede.
In the same alley, rooms in a row of rented accommodations remained closed, with tenants trying to prevent water from entering their living spaces.

In the rented room of Ms. Tuong Vy, 19, water had been stagnant for nearly a day and had not receded, with many belongings not raised in time. She stated that last night, heavy rain caused water levels to rise, forcing many residents in the row to seek temporary shelter elsewhere.
On Nguyen Van Khoi street, many alleys remained submerged even though the rain had stopped last night. The most severe flooding was in alley 171, where many homes and shops were inundated. This morning, Ms. Nguyen Doan Thanh Truc's house floor was still covered in water. She recounted that last night, after only half an hour of heavy rain, her entire family had to rush to move belongings to higher ground.

Even though her sleeping area was on a tiled platform higher than the floor, Ms. Truc still had to use many plastic chairs to prop up her mattress further to avoid getting wet. Blankets and pillows were gathered on top, with water still pooling underneath.
In alley 153, Le Van Tho street, the water had not yet receded, forcing residents to place trash cans on higher ground to prevent them from floating away.
With water flooding her shop, Ms. Minh Vuong had to temporarily close to clean up.

Heavy rain on 7/10 caused widespread flooding and prolonged traffic jams across many Ho Chi Minh City streets, making it difficult for residents to return home. At the power substation on Nguyen Van Khoi street, a team of workers used pumps to clear the water.

In alley 152, Nguyen Van Khoi street, the entire residential area remained deeply submerged. Looking down from his rooftop, Mr. Nguyen Quang Tam stated that this was the most severe flooding he had witnessed in over 10 years of living in the area.
Over the past 10 days, a tropical convergence zone combined with weak easterly wind disturbances has caused widespread rain across the city. The meteorological agency forecasts that Ho Chi Minh City will continue to experience rain, with localized heavy downpours, on the evenings of 8-9/10.
