Hanoi's Ring Road 4 parallel road prepares for trial operation

The Capital Region Ring Road 4 project is accelerating construction, with the parallel road section through Hanoi expected to undergo trial operation in October.

The Capital Region Ring Road 4, approximately 113 km long, traverses Hanoi, Hung Yen, and Bac Ninh. It connects the Hanoi - Lao Cai expressway at its starting point and the Noi Bai - Ha Long expressway at its end. The project comprises about 103 km of main route and 9,7 km of connecting route towards the Noi Bai - Ha Long expressway.

Construction on the 56,5 km section through Hanoi is progressing rapidly. The parallel road component of the project is taking shape, with many sections already asphalted. The project is approximately 90% complete, representing an investment of 3,850 out of 4,282 billion VND.

The parallel road section from Me So bridge, through National Highway 32 to Thang Long Avenue, has been largely asphalted. Designed with three lanes in each direction, running parallel to Ring Road 4, many elements are nearing completion.

The section from Thang Long Avenue to National Highway 6 has also largely completed asphalting of the parallel road. Some segments are already open to traffic, serving local commuting needs.

Along with the completion of the road surface, lighting systems, road markings, and safety barriers have been installed, contributing to infrastructure completion and ensuring traffic safety along the route.

At intersections, traffic light systems have been installed and are awaiting activation to ensure safety for commuters.

According to the design, the core of Ring Road 4 will be a 6-lane expressway, allowing vehicles to travel at speeds of about 100 km/h. Land strips on both sides of the expressway are reserved for the future development of a national ring railway in subsequent phases. The outermost sections feature parallel roads, urban collector roads, landscape green belts, and infrastructure safety corridors. The entire route has a cross-section width ranging from 90 to 135 m.

On the section from Me So bridge to the Phap Van - Cau Gie expressway intersection, the parallel roads on both sides have been asphalted and are open to traffic. In this area, construction units are concentrating machinery to build the elevated expressway, with numerous bridge spans already taking shape.

The intersection of Ring Road 4 with the Phap Van - Cau Gie expressway is gradually taking shape. The project includes eight interchanges connecting Ring Road 4 with major arteries, including: the Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway, Me Linh axis road, Thang Long Avenue, National Highway 6, Phap Van - Cau Gie expressway, Hanoi - Hai Phong expressway, National Highway 38, and Noi Bai - Ha Long expressway.

From the Phap Van - Cau Gie expressway to National Highway 1, the parallel road is still undergoing foundation construction. Meanwhile, the central expressway is gradually forming with numerous pillars and bridge spans being erected.

The remaining section, from the Southern axis road to National Highway 6, is currently undergoing site leveling. On the construction site, units are deploying machinery and personnel to expedite progress.

Along the parallel road, all bridges over rivers, canals, and ditches have been largely completed, ensuring continuous connectivity between sections.

From National Highway 1 to the Southern axis road, the entire parallel road has been asphalted, but lane markings have not yet been painted.
