Around 2:45 PM, a Hanoi-registered limousine bus was heading from Hanoi to Hai Phong. As it reached the V23 rest stop area in Hung Yen province, smoke appeared from the front of the vehicle, which then caught fire. The driver immediately pulled over into the emergency lane.

Initially, the fire was not large. The driver and several people at the rest stop used portable fire extinguishers to fight the flames. According to a witness, approximately 10 fire extinguishers were deployed, but they failed to contain the blaze.

After about 15 minutes, the fire erupted intensely, quickly engulfing the entire bus. Fortunately, there were no passengers on board at the time, resulting in no casualties. The blaze completely destroyed the bus.

A week prior, another vehicle caught fire on the Hanoi - Hai Phong expressway at Km 73, also heading from Hanoi to Hai Phong.
