Nguyen Thanh Trinh, the project manager, stated that the project's opening was delayed due to the time-consuming ordering and installation of rotating guardrails and the completion of traffic safety components. Previously, the pass section was expected to open in late August.

The section of road passing through Hoai Nhon Dong ward features a 12 m wide asphalt concrete surface, designed for a speed of 40 km/h. Mountain slope reinforcement, lighting, and drainage components are complete.
The old Lo Dieu Pass was 3 km long and 6,5 m wide, with slopes of about 10%, numerous sharp turns, limited visibility, and no lighting. The new road, built along the coastline, is wider and has a reduced gradient, facilitating easier travel for residents.
This pass section is part of the DT 639 coastal road project, specifically the My Thanh - Lai Giang segment, which spans over 38 km and has a total capital of 1,300 billion VND. The project commenced in 5/2024, with the Gia Lai Provincial Project Management Board for Agriculture and Rural Development as the investor.
The Gia Lai coastal road system extends over 115 km, comprising 8 component projects with a total length of 99 km, while approximately 16 km runs concurrently with National Highway 1D. Upon completion, the route is expected to enhance traffic connectivity, fostering tourism, urban development, and the marine economy.
