The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting predicts that the current cold spell in northern Vietnam will persist until 14/1. Following this date, the cold air mass is expected to weaken, leading to a shift in weather patterns. Night and morning low temperatures will rise above 14 degrees Celsius, while daytime temperatures will reach 24-26 degrees Celsius.
This change comes after a week ago, northern provinces experienced deep cold at night and dry sunshine during the day, with temperature differences exceeding 10 degrees. Such conditions have heightened the risk of respiratory illnesses, particularly among children.

US-based Accuweather forecasts temperatures in Hanoi to range from 13-26 degrees Celsius at the beginning of the week, warming to 18-24 degrees Celsius by mid-week. In high-altitude areas above 1,500 meters, such as Sa Pa in Lao Cai province, temperatures are expected to fluctuate between 8-17 degrees Celsius.
Central Vietnam continues to be affected by the strong cold air. While rain is minimal, night and morning temperatures in provinces north of Hai Van Pass will remain below 16 degrees Celsius, with daytime highs of 23-25 degrees Celsius. The South Central Coast will generally experience temperatures between 26-29 degrees Celsius.
Southern Vietnam and the Central Highlands also recorded lower temperatures this week, with Nha Be in TP HCM occasionally dropping to 17 degrees Celsius. However, from next week, as the cold air mass weakens, southern Vietnam will see a slight temperature increase, with lows around 20 degrees Celsius and highs of 30-32 degrees Celsius. The Central Highlands will experience 14-27 degrees Celsius with sunny days.
