Over 100 preschool children in Dong Nai gain playground, clean water

Hope Foundation and Home Credit Vietnam recently handed over a playground and a drilled well to Hoa Mai Preschool, easing difficulties for teachers and students in Bom Bo commune.

On 28/11, the atmosphere at the Hamlet 7 school site of Hoa Mai Preschool in Bom Bo commune buzzed with laughter. On the newly paved concrete yard, dozens of students eagerly ran, slid down a slide, and played in a colorful ball pit.

Lai Thi Tien, the school's principal, stated that students previously lacked opportunities for physical activity. "Paving the concrete and installing new play equipment transformed the schoolyard into a safe, clean space. The children's smiles as they freely climbed and played are the clearest testament to the project's significance," Tien shared.

The school site's playground was previously a concrete surface, built with parental contributions in 2009. After 15 years, tree roots caused the surface to crack and become uneven, turning muddy in the rain and dusty in the sun, leading to frequent falls among the children.

Beyond the joy of a new playground, teachers at the Hamlet 7 site were especially moved by the new drilled well. Previously, to provide water for semi-boarding meals, teachers had to request it from nearby households. "Now, we are free from the worry of lacking clean water. The water from the drilled well ensures hygiene, allowing the school to better care for and nurture the children," the principal noted.

Nearly 10 km away, the Hamlet 6 school site, with nearly 40 students, also celebrated new access to a water well and outdoor play equipment.

The renovation project at the two school sites incurred a total cost of nearly 210 million VND, funded by Home Credit Vietnam Finance Company Limited through the Hope Foundation. During the handover ceremony, the sponsor also donated semi-boarding supplies and nearly 100 gifts contributed by staff members.

Hoa Mai Preschool was formerly located in Binh Minh commune (old Bu Dang district, Binh Phuoc province) and is now part of Bom Bo commune, Dong Nai province. Situated 12 km from the commune center, the area is sparsely populated, predominantly home to S'tieng, Tay, and Nung ethnic communities who rely on hired labor, facing numerous economic hardships.

Huynh Chau Hien, a representative of Home Credit Vietnam, expressed the company's desire to provide a spacious and safe learning environment for children in remote areas to develop early life skills. On the handover day, company employees directly participated in decorating the play area, planting trees, and preparing meals for the students.

Partnering with the Hope Foundation since 2023, Home Credit Vietnam has supported the improvement of educational conditions in many disadvantaged areas, including Dien Bien, Nghe An, Thanh Hoa, Gia Lai, and Ca Mau (formerly Bac Lieu area).

Over 8 years, the Hope Foundation, with community support, has built and renovated over 530 school sites, restrooms, and kitchens nationwide, helping hundreds of thousands of students achieve better learning conditions.
