Ho Chi Minh City (TP HCM) has approved the investment plan for two pedestrian bridges crossing Ton Duc Thang Street, combined with the renovation of Piers B and C - Ba Son in the Bach Dang Park area, Saigon Ward (formerly District one), as proposed by the Department of Construction. These additional bridges aim to ensure safety and convenience for pedestrians in a high-traffic zone.
The two pedestrian bridges are planned for the intersections of Nguyen Hue - Ton Duc Thang (in front of Majestic Saigon Hotel) and Thai Van Lung - Ton Duc Thang (near The Landmark building).

The bridgehead on the Nguyen Hue Street side will be situated on the sidewalk at the Ton Duc Thang intersection, featuring two sets of stairs for access in each direction.
The Nguyen Hue pedestrian street, 670 meters long and inaugurated in 2015, attracts thousands of residents and tourists daily for recreation and hosts many major city events.

At the Thai Van Lung - Ton Duc Thang intersection, the pedestrian bridge will feature a mesh dome with a dominant green tone.
Currently, TP HCM is exploring the transformation of Thai Van Lung Street into a space reflecting cultural traffic and urban civility, aiming to develop a model street in the city center.

A representative of the investor stated that the two pedestrian bridges will not only serve transportation needs but also create architectural landmarks. The design aims to meet current and long-term demands, harmonize with the landscape, and ensure smooth traffic flow on Ton Duc Thang Street.
The steel structures will be prefabricated at a factory and then transported for installation, reducing road occupation during construction.

Alongside the construction of the two pedestrian bridges, the city will renovate Piers B and C - Ba Son, located adjacent to the Saigon River.
Pier B will undergo repair, cleaning, and the installation of additional fences, handrails, and access ramps.

The riverside area will feature miniature landscapes for visitors, along with the installation of electricity, water, lighting, cameras, greenery, and related amenities.

The total estimated investment is approximately 80 billion VND, with 50 billion VND allocated for the two pedestrian bridges and the remainder for the renovation of Piers B and C. The investor will fully fund the project and operate it under a BT (Build-Transfer) contract, without using the state budget.
In return, the enterprise is permitted to install LED screens for political advocacy combined with advertising and to operate certain services. The two pedestrian bridges are expected to be completed by 30/4/2026; the Pier B and C components will be finished before Tet Binh Ngo.
