Located at 54 Tran Hung Dao, the Hanoi traffic control center serves as the central hub for controlling all AI camera systems installed by the city police.
The center is equipped with three main systems: road traffic order and safety violation management, real-time adaptive smart traffic signal control, and public security management. Upon activation, the system immediately began recording traffic violations via AI cameras across city streets.
Within the hundreds of square meters control room, a large central screen continuously displays images and data from thousands of camera points. Traffic police monitor, supervise, and process violation information via directly connected computer systems.

According to Hanoi City Police, AI cameras can detect up to 28 types of traffic violations, including running red lights, not wearing helmets on motorcycles, failing to wear seatbelts in cars, and using phones while driving. Violation details are visually displayed, showing images, license plates, time, number of infractions, and categorized by status from review to processed.
Data recorded by the cameras transmits to a system of 20 servers and a centralized storage facility, storing information for up to 75 days. Beyond monitoring and processing violations, AI cameras also count vehicle traffic, issue congestion warnings, and detect vehicles under surveillance.
Utilizing collected data, the smart traffic signal control system automatically adjusts traffic light cycles in real-time, shortening or extending light phases based on traffic volume in each direction. This new solution shortens travel time by about 31% compared to the previous system, increases average speed, and improves vehicle flow at intersections, while also reducing the need for direct traffic management personnel.
The traffic signal control system also connects with escort vehicles. When these vehicles are on duty and approach an intersection, the traffic lights automatically turn green, ensuring smooth passage.

Lieutenant Colonel Dao Viet Long, Deputy Head of the Traffic Police Department, Hanoi City Police, stated that operating the AI camera system since december marks a significant step in the digital transformation roadmap for the Capital's traffic police force.
Moving forward, Hanoi City Police will collaborate with the Public Administrative Service Center to integrate the iHanoi Digital Capital Citizen application with the traffic control center infrastructure. This initiative aims to process administrative violations related to traffic order and safety electronically.
