Around 8:15 p.m., a passenger bus with Bac Ninh license plates was traveling northbound on the Ham Nghi - Vung Ang expressway. Near the Ky Trung intersection in Ky Van commune, the bus suddenly struck the rear of a semi-trailer carrying iron frames that was traveling ahead.
The strong impact embedded the front of the bus into the iron frames at the rear of the semi-trailer. Nine people sustained injuries, with one victim trapped inside the bus cabin.

Traffic Police and Fire and Rescue Police from Ha Tinh Provincial Police quickly arrived at the scene to rescue the victims and transport them for emergency medical treatment.
At the scene, the bus's front was severely deformed, and its windshield shattered. The semi-trailer's rear was damaged, with debris and oil scattered across the road.

As of after 11 p.m., authorities were still cordoning off a portion of the scene for rescue operations and to investigate the accident's cause.
The Ham Nghi - Vung Ang expressway, spanning nearly 54 km with a total investment exceeding 9,700 billion VND, fully opened to traffic in late April. This route features four lanes and has a maximum operating speed of 90 km/h.
