Passenger train fares reduced by 3%

Starting 13/3, the railway sector is reducing passenger fares by 3% and freight transport fees by 4% nationwide.

According to the Railway Transport Joint Stock Company, the reduction in train fares stems from a domestic fuel price adjustment on 11/3 at 22:00, which saw prices decrease by approximately 12% compared to 7/3 at 15:00.

Five days prior, the railway sector had increased passenger fares by 10% and freight transport fees by 15% due to a 56% rise in domestic fuel prices compared to the end of February. The company's leadership committed to adjusting fares as diesel prices cool down, ensuring both competitiveness and maximum benefits for customers.

The railway sector maintains existing ticket discount policies for beneficiaries: a 90% reduction for heroic Vietnamese mothers and individuals involved in revolutionary activities before 1945; a 25% reduction for children aged 6 to under 10; free tickets for children under 6; and a 10% reduction for students and for the return leg of round-trip tickets.
