Phu Tho provincial vice chairman Nguyen Huy Ngoc 'committed very serious violations'

Nguyen Huy Ngoc, Vice Chairman of the Phu Tho Provincial People's Committee, has been recommended for disciplinary action due to very serious violations, which have severely damaged the reputation of the Party organization and agencies.

Nguyen Huy Ngoc, Vice Chairman of the Phu Tho Provincial People's Committee, faces a recommendation for disciplinary action by the Central Inspection Committee due to very serious violations. These actions have severely damaged the reputation of the Party organization and agencies, causing public outrage.

On 11/9, during its 12th session, the Central Inspection Committee considered the recommendation for disciplinary action against Ngoc. The committee found that Ngoc had degraded in political ideology, ethics, and lifestyle. He violated Party regulations and State laws in performing his assigned duties, particularly in combating corruption, waste, and negativity. Furthermore, he breached regulations on what Party members are prohibited from doing and the responsibility to set an example.

These violations "caused very serious consequences, provoked public outrage, and severely damaged the reputation of the Party organization and the agencies where he worked, to the extent that disciplinary action must be taken," according to the Central Inspection Committee. The committee has recommended that competent authorities consider disciplining Ngoc.

A day earlier, Ngoc and Dr. Le Dinh Thanh Son, Director of Phu Tho Provincial General Hospital, were prosecuted and temporarily detained. The Police Investigation Department for Corruption, Economic, and Smuggling Crimes (C03) under the Ministry of Public Security initiated the action on charges of receiving bribes under Clause 4, Article 354 of the Penal Code.

According to the Ministry of Public Security, both individuals are accused of "receiving large sums in bribes." C03 is currently expanding its investigation to clarify the roles and actions of the defendants and related individuals, while also working to recover assets for the State.

Nguyen Huy Ngoc, 56 years old, spent most of his career in Phu Tho's healthcare sector. His career progression included roles as head of department, deputy director, then director of the Provincial General Hospital. He then served for 11 years as Deputy Director and Director of the Department of Health. In 10/2024, Ngoc was elected Vice Chairman of the Phu Tho Provincial People's Committee. In late 2025, he was appointed Professor of Medicine.
