The Department of Employment (Ministry of Home Affairs) has sent a dispatch to the Legal Affairs Department, proposing the addition of a public holiday when the Labor Code is amended in the near future. This initiative aims to institutionalize the Politburo's policy to uniformly designate 24/11 annually as Vietnam Culture Day, with the goal of making it a public holiday so employees can take a paid day off. This policy seeks to enable people to enhance their cultural enjoyment, encourage artists and writers to create, and contribute to the spread of a cultured and civilized lifestyle throughout society.
The amendment and addition will follow the proper legislative process, requiring a report to the Government before being submitted to the National Assembly for decision.

Ngo Duy Hieu, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, stated that an online survey conducted by the organization, gathering over 84,000 opinions, showed that 99,4% agreed to varying degrees, while the remaining 0,6% held different views. Most workers expressed enthusiasm, hoping for early institutionalization when the Labor Code is amended in the near future to gain an additional day off.
Vietnam currently has 11 official public holidays annually: New Year's Day (one day), Lunar New Year (five days), Hung Kings' Commemoration Day (one day), Reunification Day and International Labor Day (two days from 30/4-1/5), and National Day (two days).
