Quang Ngai to build 800 billion dong road linking expressway and coast

A 6,4 km road, connecting national route one to the Dung Quat - Sa Huynh coastal road with an 800 billion dong investment, will boost expressway connectivity and unlock development in the province's eastern region.

On 5/7, the Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee approved the investment policy for a 6,4 km road. This new route will begin at the intersection of national route one and the Da Nang - Quang Ngai expressway access road, concluding with a connection to the Dung Quat - Sa Huynh coastal road.

Designed for a speed of 80 km/h, the road will traverse Ve Giang and Tu Nghia communes. The initial 5,5 km segment features a 12 m roadbed and an 11 m road surface. The final one km, which aligns with the D5 road according to the coastal zoning plan, will be expanded to a 21 m roadbed with sidewalks on both sides. The project also includes the construction of three bridges, along with drainage systems, intersections, lighting, and traffic safety infrastructure.

The project's total investment is estimated at 800 billion dong. The central budget will provide 720 billion dong, with the remaining funds sourced from the provincial budget. The Quang Ngai Provincial Project Management Board for Investment and Construction of Transport Works will serve as the investor. Investment preparation is scheduled for this year, with construction anticipated to take place from 2027 to 2030.

According to the Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee, the southeastern coastal area currently lacks sufficient horizontal connections to national routes and expressways, hindering the effective utilization of its development potential. The new road will significantly reduce travel time between the expressway and the coast, expand urban areas to the east, and facilitate the growth of industry, logistics, services, and tourism.

Over recent years, Quang Ngai has invested in the Dung Quat - Sa Huynh coastal road in multiple stages to enhance connectivity between Dung Quat, Chu Lai, and Sa Huynh. To date, over 60 km of this route are complete or operational, including a 30 km section from stage one (1,500 billion dong) and a 30 km section from stage two (2,100 billion dong).

The province is currently constructing the remaining 6 km, expected to be finished this year, with the goal of completing the entire over 100 km coastal route.

Complementing the coastal axis are national route one and the expressway system. This includes the Da Nang - Quang Ngai expressway, operational since 2018, and the Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon expressway, which was inaugurated in april. These projects contribute to completing the regional transport network.
