A family in alley 238 Au Co has raised their belongings and cannot return home due to the flooding.

On the evening of 16/9, numerous households in alley 238, alley 240 Au Co, and 39 Tu Lien street, all located in Hong Ha ward's dike-side area, remained submerged from heavy rain that began three days prior.

Vu Quang Trung, a resident of alley 39 Au Co, reported that while the water had receded by over 20 cm, some sections were still more than half a meter deep.

"All manhole covers have been fully opened, but the water is draining very slowly. Many residents and I constantly clear trash to prevent blockages," Trung said.

Nguyen Ba Hao and his wife in alley 240 Au Co grab dinner after cleaning their house. However, their home remains damp and smells foul from being submerged for several days.

Inside her 24 m2 home, which was awash with water, 70-year-old Vu Tuyet Lan recounted the events of 13/9. The water did not rise too quickly, but it happened in the middle of the night, posing significant challenges for her family of three elderly individuals.

"My mother is 98 years old, and my husband, a war invalid, is over 70. They are now forced to live in a damp, dirty, and flooded environment. I hope it doesn't rain tonight so the water can fully recede," Lan expressed.

For the past three days, Nguyen Thi Yen from alley 238 Au Co has been using a boat to take her children to school through the flooded areas.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, Hanoi and many northern provinces, along with Thanh Hoa and Nghe An, are expected to experience continued heavy rainfall until 17/9, with some areas receiving over 250 mm, increasing the risk of flooding, flash floods, and landslides.
