Residents in nuclear power project to receive 5 million VND monthly housing support

Households whose residential land is acquired for the Ninh Thuan 1 and 2 nuclear power projects will receive temporary housing or rental assistance, up to 5 million VND per month, while awaiting resettlement.

The Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee (PPC) recently issued regulations applicable to eligible households and individuals with specific needs. If the locality possesses resettlement housing, commercial housing, or social housing, authorities will consider providing temporary accommodation to residents in the commune where their land was acquired. Households with up to four people receive one unit; those with more than four people get an additional unit.

If no housing fund is available or residents arrange their own accommodation, they will receive housing rental support. The 5 million VND monthly support applies to households with up to four people, with an additional 10% for each member from the fifth person onwards.

The support period begins from the land handover date until residents receive resettlement accommodation. For those receiving land, support extends until they receive the land, plus an additional six months for house construction. For those receiving a house, it continues until they are allocated the new housing unit. Authorities will round up any odd period exceeding 15 days to one month.

Vietnam has relaunched the Ninh Thuan nuclear power project, which they expect to complete within five years. The Ninh Thuan 1 plant is located in Vinh Truong hamlet, Phuoc Dinh commune, while Ninh Thuan 2 is situated in Thai An hamlet, Vinh Hai commune. Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) and Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) are the respective investors for the two projects.

Khanh Hoa is accelerating site clearance and the handover of cleared land to the investors.
