Around 11 a.m., residents observed the Ba Dinh road surface, adjacent to Hung Phu park in Hung Phu ward, begin to crack. Large sections of asphalt then fractured before collapsing, creating the pit.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported as people noticed the sinking road and stopped their vehicles from a safe distance when the incident occurred. The deep pit now occupies half of the road, with significant amounts of soil and sand having washed into the canal below.
Ms. Thanh Mai, a local resident living near the site, reported that the road surface began cracking early in the morning and then spread. "Many residents here had already warned motorcyclists to avoid this area beforehand to prevent accidents," Ms. Mai stated.
Militia and police forces quickly responded, cordoning off the affected road and establishing barriers to alert the public. Dozens of staff from the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Drainage Company are currently managing the scene.
