Accounts established before the decree's effective date (28/9) must be linked and verified with VNeID no later than 31/12/2026. For banking accounts specifically, the deadline is 30/6/2027.
Digital transaction accounts on platforms serving national defense, security, and cross-border services also require VNeID linkage and verification before use, provided these digital platforms meet the necessary conditions.
For other sectors, ministers and heads of ministerial-level agencies will issue specific lists of online transactions that require mandatory VNeID linkage and verification before use.
The government has tasked national digital platforms with integrating VNeID for authentication, login, and transaction execution between agencies, organizations, and individuals by 31/12/2026.
Previously, starting from 28/9, electronic identification accounts are automatically locked if the registered phone number has changed and is no longer verified.
By the end of 2025, over 65 million VNeID accounts had been activated nationwide. The application currently integrates various information and documents, including ID cards, health insurance, driver's licenses, vehicle registrations, passports, residency information, social insurance, tax information, marital status, degrees, certificates, academic records, dependents, and phone numbers.
