State funeral held for General Le Van Dung

The state funeral for General Le Van Dung was held on 14/1 at the National Funeral Home in the South, Ho Chi Minh City.

The Party Central Committee, National Assembly, President, Government, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee decided to organize a state funeral for This decision reflects profound sorrow and acknowledges his achievements and contributions.

The Secretariat of the Party Central Committee established the State Funeral Committee, led by Do Van Chien, Standing Vice Chairman of the National Assembly.

General Le Van Dung's remains were laid at the National Funeral Home in the South, located at 5 Pham Ngu Lao, Ho Chi Minh City. The visitation took place from 6h to 10h30 on 14/1. The memorial service followed at 10h30 on the same day. The burial ceremony was held from 17h30 on 14/1 at his family's land, 702 An Binh hamlet, Phu Tuc commune, Vinh Long province.

General Le Van Dung.

General Le Van Dung, birth name Nguyen Van Noi, was born on 25/12/1945. His hometown was Phong My commune, Giong Trom district, Ben Tre province (now Luong Hoa commune, Vinh Long province). He resided at 702 An Binh hamlet, Phu Tuc commune, Vinh Long province.

He enlisted in the military on 14/5/1963. He served as a Member of the Party Central Committee for the 8th, 9th, and 10th terms, and as Secretary of the Party Central Committee for the 9th and 10th terms. He was also a National Assembly delegate for the 11th and 12th terms. General Le Van Dung held significant positions, including Deputy Minister of National Defense - Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, and Chairman of the General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army.

After a period of severe illness, during which he received dedicated care and treatment from the Party, State, Army, medical professionals, and his family, he passed away at 15h40 on 9/1, at 81 years old, due to advanced age and declining health.

Throughout his revolutionary career, General Le Van Dung made significant contributions to the Party and the nation. He was awarded the Ho Chi Minh Order, the title Hero of the People's Armed Forces, and many other noble orders and medals by the Party and State.
