Thanh Cong park fence removal

Indira Gandhi park, commonly known as Thanh Cong park, is undergoing fence removal and minor renovations to serve the public for the upcoming Binh Ngo Lunar New Year.

Giang Vo ward is renovating several facilities for the 14th National Congress of the Party, the Party's founding day on 3/2, and the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year 2026. Indira Gandhi park is among these facilities.

Indira Gandhi park, located in Giang Vo ward, covers an area of nearly 10 hectares. It borders Thanh Cong street to the north and Nguyen Hong street to the west.

After many years of use, several park facilities are damaged. The environmental sanitation management building, pump station control building, pump station, transformer station, and temporary shelters are dilapidated. Some areas have been illegally encroached upon and used for unintended purposes.

While awaiting the implementation of the "Comprehensive Renovation of Indira Gandhi Park" project, the ward has requested relevant units to carry out temporary repairs and maintenance on several deteriorated items. These include sunken or peeling walkways and unsafe areas. Additionally, the park's fences are being removed to create an open park for public recreation.

The renovation work will be completed before the Lunar New Year 2026.

This marks the second park, following Thong Nhat park, to completely remove its perimeter fences for easier public access.

According to the "Comprehensive Renovation of Indira Gandhi Park" project, which is currently being developed, the park's layout may be divided into two main landscape areas: a green space park with walkways and Thanh Cong lake. The project also includes plans for underground and above-ground parking facilities to serve park visitors and local residents.
