The An Giang Provincial Inspectorate recently announced findings regarding compensation, support, and resettlement for the Ho Chi Minh Road project, specifically the Rach Soi - Ben Nhut, Go Quao - Vinh Thuan section. The report highlighted an instance where a tomb belonging to Nguyen Thi Nguyet Thu's household in the former Go Quao district was overcompensated by 420 million dong. Initially, the tomb was valued at 4,6 million dong per m2, categorized as a sturdy house type III. The initial assessment determined direct damage to 4 m2 and indirect impact on 167 m2, leading to a total compensation of over 642 million dong.
Upon re-evaluation, specialized agencies reclassified the structure as a pre-fabricated house, significantly reducing its unit price to over one million dong per m2. The affected area was also adjusted downwards from 167 m2 to 115 m2.

The revised calculation reduced the compensation amount to approximately 221 million dong. This figure is 420 million dong lower than the previously approved plan, and the inspectorate has demanded the recovery of this discrepancy.
Beyond this specific case, the inspectorate uncovered 43 instances of vocational training, career transition, and job search support that did not comply with regulations. In some cases, individuals listed on land use rights certificates were officials, public servants, or pensioners, yet the support was allocated to their family members instead.
Furthermore, 16 land transfer cases were identified as non-compliant. Among these, 4 involved private sales conducted with handwritten documents, even though the sellers possessed land use rights certificates but were ineligible for plot subdivision. The remaining 12 cases involved transferees who had not fulfilled their financial obligations.
The provincial inspectorate has instructed all involved units to recover and return any improperly disbursed funds. Additionally, it called for a review of responsibility for leaders and individuals involved in compensation, site clearance, appraisal, and approval processes.
The Ho Chi Minh Road project, spanning the Rach Soi - Ben Nhut, Go Quao - Vinh Thuan section, is nearly 52 km long. With a total investment of approximately 3,900 billion dong, construction commenced in 3/2024 and is currently underway.
