Tornado rips roofs off ward headquarters, two injured

A tornado accompanied by heavy rain and hail damaged a ward headquarters and many homes in Phan Thiet City, injuring two people on the evening of 22/6.

Around 5 p.m., dark clouds covered many areas of Phan Thiet City, followed by strong winds and heavy rain.

In Ham Thang ward, the corrugated iron roofs of two offices at the ward People's Committee headquarters were blown away. A public official was hit by a falling iron bar and taken to the provincial hospital for observation. Many nearby homes also had their roofs ripped off, with corrugated iron sheets scattering onto the road, obstructing traffic.

Functional forces and electricity staff later cleared trees and corrugated iron roofs, and fixed the issues. Roads have since reopened to traffic.
