Tractor trailer ablaze on national highway 51

A container truck caught fire unexpectedly while traveling on national highway 51, causing a prolonged traffic jam through Long Hung ward on the afternoon of 15/1.

Around 1 p.m., a tractor trailer carrying goods in a container was traveling on national highway 51, heading from Vung Tau to Dong Nai. As it reached a section of road in Long Hung ward, about 3 km from Vung Tau T-junction, passersby noticed flames erupting from the truck's cabin and immediately alerted the driver.

At this point, the driver pulled the vehicle to the roadside, jumped out, and attempted to extinguish the fire, but was unsuccessful. In moments, the fire intensified, and a towering column of smoke rose dozens of meters into the air.

"I saw smoke and ran out to look, then heard several explosions. The fire erupted fiercely, engulfing the entire cabin, so no one could do anything", recounted Mr. Lam, a witness.

After about 30 minutes, the Dong Nai Fire and Rescue Police dispatched several specialized vehicles to the scene. By 2 p.m., the fire was largely brought under control, but the entire truck cabin had been destroyed.

The fire caused no human casualties, but it led to a prolonged traffic jam on national highway 51, heading from TP HCM to Dong Nai. The cause is currently under investigation.
