Around 9:00 AM, a Thanh Hoa-plated tractor-trailer carrying iron boxes was traveling on the Nghi Son - Cua Lo coastal road in a north-south direction. Upon reaching Hai Chau commune (formerly part of Dien Chau district), the trailer caught fire. The driver quickly pulled the vehicle over to the roadside, then he and the co-driver opened the doors and escaped.
Flames erupted intensely, engulfing the vehicle and sending a thick column of black smoke dozens of meters high. The Firefighting and Rescue Department of Nghe An Provincial Police dispatched one fire truck and dozens of officers and firefighters to the scene.
After several tens of minutes, the blaze was brought under control. However, all the rear tires were burned away, and the rear section of the vehicle was severely damaged.
Authorities believe the cause was likely friction, leading to a tire blowout and subsequently the fire.
