Truck overturns, blocking Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet expressway temporarily closed

A fruit truck overturned, blocking the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet expressway and causing a traffic jam stretching for nearly one kilometer, leading authorities to temporarily close the road on the morning of 15/6.

On 15/6, at approximately 8 a.m., a truck carrying fruit was traveling northbound on the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet expressway from TP HCM. Upon reaching a section in Ham Thuan commune, the vehicle unexpectedly overturned across the road.

Traffic Police patrolling the expressway coordinated with the route management unit to divert and regulate traffic. The section from Ba Bau interchange to Ma Lam interchange was temporarily closed. Vehicles traveling northbound from TP HCM were redirected to National Highway 1 at the Ba Bau interchange. Simultaneously, a tow truck was dispatched to the scene to remove the damaged vehicle and clear the expressway.

The Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet expressway spans nearly 101 km, with a total investment exceeding 10,800 billion VND. It became operational in 5/2023. This route currently features 4 lanes, is 17 meters wide, and has a maximum speed of 80 km/h. It forms part of the eastern North-South expressway, connecting provinces in the South Central Coast with TP HCM.
