On 5/2, the Quang Tri provincial Military Command repatriated the remains of fallen soldier Nguyen Minh Thuan, born in 1949 from Trang Xa commune, Thai Nguyen province, and fallen soldier Trinh Ngoc Tac, born in 1949 from Dinh Tan commune, Thanh Hoa province. Their identities were confirmed, allowing them to be returned to their hometowns for burial, fulfilling their families' wishes.
This identification was made possible through a meticulous process. Based on artifacts with engraved information, the Quang Tri provincial Military Command collaborated with the Department of Home Affairs and other agencies. They reviewed and cross-referenced records, verified identities, and consulted with the fallen soldiers' relatives. Following official confirmation, the task force proceeded with the repatriation.
Nguyen Minh Thuan and Trinh Ngoc Tac were among five fallen soldiers' remains found by Team 584, Political Department, Quang Tri provincial Military Command. The team located and collected the remains in Trai Ca village, Dakrong commune, acting on information provided by units that previously fought in the Quang Tri battlefield, veterans, and local residents.

Prior to this, from 2/1, Team 584 had searched for and collected five fallen soldiers' remains in an acacia and cajuput forest belonging to Mr. Ho Van Phuong, located in Trai Ca village, Dakrong commune. The remains were discovered at a depth of 0,8 to one meter, wrapped in parachute fabric. They were accompanied by numerous artifacts, including pith helmets, shoes, belts, military hammocks, magazine pouches, AK ammunition, and personal belongings. These soldiers made their sacrifice in 1970.
Among the artifacts found, fallen soldier Nguyen Minh Thuan's remains were accompanied by a piece of paper with personal information, while fallen soldier Trinh Ngoc Tac's remains included a bullet fragment engraved with his name. Additionally, authorities discovered artifacts bearing the names Tran Van Sieu, 3/3 (or 8/8), and Vuong Chi Cao.
Quang Tri provincial authorities continue to review records and clarify the identities of the remaining fallen soldiers' remains.
