Around 6:45 AM on 25/4, Nguyen Viet Huy (class 12A8) and Dang Ba Tuan Anh (class 10A4) from Tan Ky 3 High School were crossing the suspension bridge connecting Nghia Hanh and Tan An communes when they witnessed a fellow student jump into the river.
The two students quickly assessed the situation, identified a suitable entry point, and then jumped into the water. They swam about 15 meters to the deep water area to reach the student.

The rescue was challenging as the water was over 2 meters deep and the student panicked, struggling constantly. The two students worked together to hold and calm her, guiding their friend to shore within minutes.
Huy stated that his only thought at the time was to save the person quickly, fearing a worse outcome with any delay. During the rescue, he became exhausted multiple times and swallowed water.
Passersby then assisted the female student to a medical facility, where she is now out of danger. According to the school, she has recently displayed signs of psychological instability, and her homeroom teacher is working with the family to monitor and provide encouragement.
Nguyen Minh Hai, principal of Tan Ky 3 High School, announced that the school has praised the two students and is considering rewarding them for their brave actions.
