Under the contract signed on 6/10, all trains designed and produced by Alstom for Hanoi's urban railway lines are new generation 5-car models. The train bodies are made of aluminum alloy, reducing axle load, thereby saving energy and limiting rail wear. Additionally, they feature a wide design that optimizes interior space, increasing passenger capacity.
The trains will operate fully automatically, without drivers, achieving the highest automation level, GoA4. Furthermore, the braking system combines regenerative braking and disc brakes, ensuring safety and recovering energy during deceleration.
The first 83 trains will be manufactured at Alstom's Valenciennes Petite-Foreet facility in France, one of its centers of expertise for metro trains. In addition to supplying 83 complete trains, Alstom will provide technology, technical expertise, equipment support, and crucial components to enable Vingroup to independently manufacture and assemble 117 trains in Vietnam.

Vingroup is the general contractor for the Hanoi metro project, through its member company Vinhomes. The cooperation with Alstom aims to provide vehicles for Hanoi's urban railway projects, moving towards developing self-sufficiency to enable long-term partnership in the city's urban railway network development.
According to the Capital Master Plan until 2045, Hanoi's urban railway network will reach 979 km, comprising 18 lines, and will serve as the "backbone" of the public transportation system. With a total length of nearly 1,000 km, the network is also one of the largest urban railway development projects in Southeast Asia, contributing to reducing traffic congestion, limiting environmental pollution, and improving residents' quality of life.
Alstom is one of the leading global railway enterprises, currently employing 87,800 people in 61 countries.
