Ho Chi Minh City night run returns next March

VnExpress Marathon Ho Chi Minh City Midnight will host its fourth season on 22/3/2026, featuring adjustments to enhance the athlete experience.

The organizers stated that the night run will maintain its previous standards, including a fully lit route and race kits comprising a bib, race shirt, and finisher shirt for 21 km and 42 km runners. The registration opening for the four distances will be announced shortly.

"Alongside Hanoi, VM Ho Chi Minh City Midnight stands as one of the nation's largest night runs. Hosting the event early in the year provides runners with more competition opportunities after Tet (Lunar New Year). We are currently reviewing options to enhance the on-course experience, while upholding our commitment to safety and 100% route illumination", a representative from the organizing committee stated.

In 2025, nearly 12,000 runners registered for VM Ho Chi Minh City Midnight. The event garnered attention for its unique illumination of the Sala area with hundreds of motorbikes, creating a visual spectacle and enhancing runner safety.

The race's night course guides runners past numerous iconic landmarks in central Ho Chi Minh City, including Tao Dan Park, Independence Palace, Notre Dame Cathedral, and Nguyen Hue Walking Street, before reaching the finish line.

Many running groups in Ho Chi Minh City and southern provinces are eagerly awaiting registration to prepare their training plans. Runners appreciate the cool weather and open course, deeming it ideal for achieving personal bests. Many participants view the event as an excellent way to kick off their new year's running calendar.

"We recognize the demand for expanding expo activities, enhancing interactive experiences, and adding amenities for runners. These proposals are currently under review for implementation in the 2026 season", the organizers added.

Further details regarding the course, prizes, and accompanying activities will be announced by the organizers in the coming weeks.
