Honda Racing Vietnam kicks off at Asia motorcycle racing championship 2026

Two young riders from Honda Racing Vietnam commenced round one of the Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) 2026 at the Sepang International Circuit, setting the stage for their quest in the new season, on 11-12/4.

Participating in the first round of ARRC 2026, Honda Racing Vietnam competed in the AP250 category with two young riders: Ngo Nguyen Viet Tuan (number 84) and Nguyen Huu Tri (number 18). Viet Tuan, age 14, made his debut at ARRC and is the youngest rider in this year's AP250 class.

After qualifying, Viet Tuan and Huu Tri started from the mid-pack on a hot race day. Race one saw many changes among the leaders, with Viet Tuan consistently breaking away and challenging for the top 5. After 8 laps, the 14-year-old rider finished in 6th place, earning 10 points and recording the fastest lap time in race one among the 30 AP250 riders, according to Honda Racing Vietnam.

Meanwhile, Huu Tri finished in 9th place, bringing in 7 points, securing two Vietnamese riders in the top 10 on the first race day.

Race two began with sudden heavy rain, making the track slippery and quickly spreading out the field. A team representative stated that Viet Tuan approached the race cautiously, maintaining good control of his bike, and finished in 10th place, earning an additional 6 points. Huu Tri completed race two in 12th place, securing 4 points.

Concluding the opening round of ARRC 2026, Viet Tuan and Huu Tri earned 16 and 11 points respectively. The team considered this a positive sign, boosting Honda Racing Vietnam's confidence for upcoming ARRC 2026 rounds.

"The ARRC 2026 season has just begun, but the Honda Racing Vietnam riders have demonstrated persistent fighting spirit, potential, and ambition. Each lap will be a stepping stone and a valuable lesson on the riders' journey to conquer speed", a team representative said.
