Escalating tensions between the US, Israel, and Iran have led over 20 major international airlines across Europe, North America, and the Middle East to postpone, cancel, or reroute flights due to airspace closures and growing security concerns.
Israel initiated airspace closures early on 22/6, halting all incoming and outgoing flights. Iran followed suit shortly after, while Iraq had already suspended all civilian flights the previous week. These actions have significantly disrupted not only regional routes but also the global aviation network.
Many airlines have adjusted their schedules in response to the situation. Some of the affected routes and airlines include:
: Etihad Airways (flights to Tel Aviv and Amman canceled until 30/6), Emirates (flights to Tehran, Baghdad, and Basra canceled until 30/6), Qatar Airways (flights to Iran and Iraq canceled indefinitely), Delta Air Lines (flights to Tel Aviv canceled until 31/8), United Airlines (flights to Tel Aviv canceled until 1/8), Air France (flights to Tel Aviv canceled indefinitely), Lufthansa (flights to Tel Aviv and Tehran canceled until 31/7), Air Canada (flights to Tel Aviv canceled until 8/9), KLM (flights to Tel Aviv canceled until 1/7), and Air Arabia (flights to Iran, Iraq, Russia, Armenia, Georgia, and Azerbaijan canceled until 30/6).
Several other airlines have also implemented changes. Singapore Airlines has suspended flights to Dubai until 25/6. Air India has halted all operations to the Middle East and flights to and from the Northeastern US coast, as well as Europe, with no resumption date announced. Japan Airlines has canceled flights to Dubai until 27/6.
Flydubai has stopped all flights to Iran, Iraq, Israel, and Syria until the end of June and blocked connecting flights through Dubai to these destinations. Wizz Air Abu Dhabi has suspended all routes to Ben Gurion Airport (Tel Aviv). Flights from Europe to Amman remain suspended until 15/9. Kuwait Airways has halted flights to Amman, Beirut, and Dubai until the end of June. Gulf Air has announced the cancellation of flights to Amman (Jordan), Baghdad, and Najaf (Iraq) until 27/6.
Syria's national airline has diverted all flights from Damascus International Airport to Aleppo since 20/6, providing transportation for passengers between the two airports. Ryanair has extended its suspension of the Tel Aviv route until 31/8 and canceled flights to Amman until 11/7. Swiss Air Lines has suspended flights to Tel Aviv until 25/10 and to Beirut until the end of July.

Experts warn that further itinerary changes are likely. Passengers are advised to regularly check their flight status, maintain flexible schedules, and have alternative plans if necessary. Airlines are currently offering support with ticket changes, refunds, and alternative travel arrangements for affected passengers.
