Quang Ngai plans to develop diving tourism at Ganh Yen, Hon Nhan

The provincial Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Center surveyed a diving and coral viewing project at Ganh Yen and Hon Nhan to diversify local tourism products.

On 19/3, the Quang Ngai Provincial Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Center, along with various departments and Chau Tan investment company, surveyed Ganh Yen and Hon Nhan to invest in a tourism project.

According to the proposal, the company will invest in equipment and human resources to develop tourism activities such as diving, coral viewing, SUP paddling, and sunrise camping. These activities will cover an area of about 50 hectares, primarily water surface, at the two locations.

Hon Nhan is a small island about 700 meters from the shore, formed by volcanic activity, surrounded by rich coral ecosystems and marine life. From this area, visitors can observe the Ba Lang An coastline, the lighthouse, and see Ly Son island when the weather is favorable.

Meanwhile, Ganh Yen also boasts a pristine landscape with geological formations from volcanic rock, similar to Ganh Da Dia in Phu Yen. The cliff features exposed coral reefs at low tide and underwater coral. This is a well-known spot along the Quang Ngai coastline.

However, tourism at these two sites has long been spontaneous and small-scale, lacking experiential products to attract many visitors. Therefore, a local enterprise aims to invest, targeting young visitors who enjoy exploration and nature.

"The development of these activities will diversify Quang Ngai's marine tourism products, creating new destinations alongside well-known areas like Ly Son," a company representative said.

During the survey, authorities advised the company to study the project's compatibility with existing plans. They also recommended the company survey water surfaces, the marine environment, ensure visitor safety, and aim for community-based tourism to involve local residents.

The Quang Ngai Provincial Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Center will assist the company with investment procedures and advise the Quang Ngai People's Committee on working with the investor.

Quang Ngai boasts a coastline stretching about 130 kilometers, featuring famous beaches like My Khe, Chau Tan, and Sa Huynh, along with many scenic spots formed from volcanic rock millions of years ago, such as Ly Son island, Thach Ky Dieu Tau, Hon Nhan, Ganh Yen, and Ba Lang An. Following its merger, the province gained a new development axis in Mang Den.

In 2025, Quang Ngai tourism expects to welcome about 5,2 million visitors, a 38% increase compared to 2024. Tourism revenue is projected to reach approximately 3,700 billion VND (a 74% increase), with international visitors accounting for about 98,500 arrivals, a 2.6-fold increase.
