From approximately 4:30 PM on june 6-7, all four swimming areas—A, B, C, and D—at Sam Son were notably crowded. The water and sandy areas were almost entirely filled with people. Despite the sudden surge in visitors, locals noted that the long beach and low tide in the late afternoon provided enough space for movement, preventing localized overcrowding.
However, the large crowds did deter some visitors. Hoang An, a tourist from Hanoi, stated that he stayed on beach B for 10 minutes before deciding to head ashore early to find a restaurant, finding the swimming space uncomfortable.
"I walked along the beach at 3 PM, and it was quite empty due to the intense sun, but just over an hour later, it was completely covered with people," An said.
Since early june 2026, a widespread heatwave has enveloped Northern and Central Vietnam, with temperatures in Hanoi and surrounding provinces consistently reaching 36-38 degrees Celsius. This sweltering weekend weather was the primary reason people flocked to coastal areas.
Many accommodation and seafood business owners in Sam Son observed that the weekend of june 6 and 7 recorded the highest number of visitors since the beginning of this summer season.
