Vietnam has put forward 5 representatives for the "Best Tourism Villages" award in 2026, organized by UN Tourism. The nominated villages are Lo Village (Dak Lak), Cat Cat Community Tourism Village (Lao Cai), Bay Mau Coconut Forest Cam Thanh (Da Nang), Mang Den Treehouse Village (Quang Ngai), and Huu Lien Community Tourism Village (Lang Son), as announced by the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism.

Cat Cat Community Tourism Village (Lao Cai)

Located approximately three kilometers from Sa Pa town center, towards Fansipan, Cat Cat village is a historical settlement of the Hmong ethnic group, established in the mid-19th century. Today, it serves as a community tourism destination, offering visitors a glimpse into the cultural life of the Northwestern highlands.

A stone-paved path guides tourists along the mountainside, revealing terraced rice fields and traditional wooden houses. Streams, water wheels, wooden bridges, and Tien Sa Waterfall contribute to a serene, rustic highland landscape. The Hmong people in Cat Cat cultivate rice and practice various traditional crafts, including linen weaving, making household tools, and silver carving.

In Huu Lien, visitors can kayak on Nong Dung Lake and camp at Michi Camp ecological area. Dong Lam Grassland, with its seasonal beauty, is a must-visit attraction. During the rainy season, from July to October annually, the vast grassland transforms into a submerged landscape, creating a majestic and poetic scene. Hung Vi

Huu Lien Community Tourism Village (Lang Son)

Situated within the Huu Lien Nature Reserve and the core zone of the UNESCO Global Geopark, Huu Lien is a tranquil rural area known for its rich biodiversity, featuring special-use forests, caves, rocky mountains, and waterfalls.

Huu Lien currently offers around 40 homestays and accommodation facilities. Most homestays are built in the traditional stilt house architectural style, retaining their rustic charm while providing modern amenities for a comfortable stay.

Bay Mau Coconut Forest Cam Thanh (Da Nang)

Bay Mau Coconut Forest is located about three kilometers from Hoi An Ancient Town, bordered by the De Vong, Thu Bon, and Hoai rivers. This brackish water environment is ideal for the growth of water coconuts. Historically, during wartime, the coconut forest served as a revolutionary base; today, it is an ecological tourism destination often described as "the Mekong Delta in the heart of Hoi An."

Cam Thanh attracts tourists with its basket boat experiences, navigating through the dense coconut groves. Basket boat paddling services began in 2009 and gained significant popularity after 2012. Among these, the basket boat dance is a highlight that draws many visitors to Bay Mau Coconut Forest.

In certain areas, paddlers will perform a basket boat spinning technique upon request from guests. Tourists, especially foreigners, enjoy this experience.

Mang Den Treehouse Tourism Area (Quang Ngai)

Mang Den Treehouse, located on Su Van Hanh Street in the Dak Ke Lake area of Mang Den, was recognized as a tourism destination in 8/2025. Visitors are encouraged to spend time meditating, reading, or simply listening to the sounds of the forest.

Lo Village (Dak Lak)

Lo Village, part of Hoa Hiep ward, spans over 182 hectares with a population of approximately 10,600 people. The name "Lo Village" is associated with the seafood steaming and drying profession that thrived for decades. Currently, Lo Village has about 1,500 households, located along the southern coast of the province, divided into three areas. Lo 3 is the area selected for the nomination.
