On 19/6, Noi Bai International Airport reported on its website that a Taiwanese tourist had filed a complaint regarding an unauthorized taxi solicitation and overcharging incident at the international terminal T2. The tourist explained that around 12:30 PM on 7/6, while using a ride-hailing app, a man in a ride-hailing service uniform approached them, offering a ride and promising standard fares.
"I estimated the fare to be around 400,000 VND, so I wasn't concerned about a minor discrepancy," the Taiwanese tourist stated in an email.
However, upon arriving at their hotel in Hang Bong street, the driver used a fake app, displaying a fare of 700,000 VND for the ride from the airport. The driver had also previously collected 200,000 VND from the tourist as a deposit, bringing the total cost of the ride to 900,000 VND. The Taiwanese tourist tried to negotiate, but the driver refused. Not wanting the issue to affect their trip, the tourist agreed to pay.

On 22/6, the Noi Bai International Airport Police Station identified the two individuals involved as a married couple residing in Soc Son district. They were found to have engaged in unauthorized taxi solicitation and fraud. The individuals were subsequently dealt with according to the law.
Despite the negative experience at the airport, the Taiwanese tourist expressed in their email a continued fondness for Vietnam. They shared positive memories from their visits to Hoi An, Ninh Binh, and Ha Long Bay.
