Vietnam Airlines adds 60,000 seats for the National Day holiday

To meet travel and family visit demands for the National Day holiday on 2/9, Vietnam Airlines Group is adding 60,000 seats, increasing its total supply to nearly 725,000 seats across its entire flight network.

Vietnam Airlines plans to operate over 3,600 flights during the upcoming peak period, a 25% increase from last year. The airline will prioritize additional flight resources for routes connecting Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City with popular tourist destinations including Da Nang, Cam Ranh, Hue, Da Lat, and Phu Quoc.

An airline representative stated that the domestic aviation market maintains positive growth after the summer peak, as the National Day holiday on 2/9 marks the last extended break of the year. "The trend of travelers opting for short trips combined with family visits has driven a rapid increase in bookings since early august," the representative added.

This early increase in capacity offers passengers more choices and helps stabilize market supply, particularly as input costs, especially aviation fuel prices, remain high. The airline optimized flight schedules and arranged its fleet flexibly to meet public travel demands.

Beyond holiday peak service, Vietnam Airlines actively adjusts regular flight schedules to meet market demands. From 16/8, the airline advanced the direct Ho Chi Minh City - Colombo route's operation to support growing trade and tourism between Vietnam and Sri Lanka. To mark the launch, promotional round-trip tickets start from 7 million VND.

Domestically, subsidiary VASCO will restore the Can Tho - Da Lat route from 19/8, following the completion of maintenance and reopening of Lien Khuong international airport (Lam Dong). This route will use ATR 72 aircraft, operating one round-trip flight daily.

Alongside increased flights, the airline continues its "hello autumn" stimulus program, offering various affordable options. Domestic passengers can receive discounts of up to 25% on tickets. For international routes, round-trip fares start from 4.95 million VND (including taxes and fees) for connecting flights to Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, Europe, the Americas, and Australia.

To minimize airport wait times during peak periods, Vietnam Airlines advises passengers to complete pre-flight procedures via its website, mobile app, or self-service kiosks. Travelers can also use biometric recognition technology on the VNeID platform for electronic check-in and authentication.
