The non-partisan organization America250 is collaborating with the management of One Times Square in New York to launch the 250th anniversary celebration of US Independence Day as the clock strikes midnight on 31/12.
This year's New Year's Eve ball, named the "Constellation Ball," has a diameter of 3,8 meters and weighs 5,6 tons, according to its designers. It is adorned with 5,280 handcrafted Waterford crystal panels and LED lights, designed to emit a brilliant glow as it descends from the tower into Times Square at the moment 2026 begins.
Following the ball drop, thousands of red, white, and blue confetti pieces, representing the colors of the US flag, will be released from surrounding buildings at 12:04 AM. The program will conclude with a fireworks display set to the late Ray Charles' rendition of "America the Beautiful."

"This will be the first time this technology is deployed. We are excited to be part of the New Year's celebration," stated Rosie Rios, president of America250.
The New Year's Eve ball drop in Times Square is one of the most watched New Year's events globally. This cherished tradition began in 1907, when a giant crystal ball was lowered from the top of the One Times Square building during the final 60 seconds of the old year, marking the transition to the new year.
A new ball is not used every year for the celebration. This year's Constellation Ball is the 9th version designed since the tradition's inception in 1907.
In addition to the New Year's Eve drop, Times Square will host a second ball drop on 3/7/2026 to commemorate US Independence Day.
