Amorn Chomchoey, a local official on Thailand's Koh Samui island, stated that a French family, consisting of a 50-year-old father and his two sons, aged 5 and 7, was rescued on 14/8. They were discharged from the hospital after a health check the previous day.

Video released by Koh Samui district officials showed the jet ski almost completely submerged, with only its orange bow visible. One of the two boys sat on the jet ski's bow, while the father floated nearby. Both were wearing life jackets.

A rescuer shouted words of encouragement, confirming they were alive, before helping the boy onto another boat and offering water to the family. Chomchoey noted, "We found them exhausted and having swallowed quite a lot of seawater. Their faces were pale, especially the two young children."

The incident began on the evening of 13/8, when the father rented the jet ski from a business on Koh Samui, a popular resort island in the Gulf of Thailand. The owner grew concerned when the family did not return at the agreed time and alerted local rescue forces. Authorities are currently investigating why the jet ski capsized just over 15 minutes after it was rented.

The father told officials he had experience operating jet skis. However, the business owner informed the press that the family appeared to have ventured outside the designated rental area specified in their contract.

Local officials confirmed that the family has remained in Thailand to continue their vacation.

Koh Samui is renowned as one of Thailand's most popular family-friendly tourist destinations. Its calm seas and diverse resorts attract millions of visitors annually.
